"do you listen to music for how it sounds, or how 'musically interesting' it is?"

Those things are basically synonymous. "Musically interesting" is interesting to listen to.

Well, you're the one holding the stupid stick, so maybe you should stop asking incriminating questions.

not in the context you put it in, which was basically anything that doesn't have 'diverse' song structure or polyrhythms or w/e isn't as musically interesting and is "pedestrian" in comparison. i can understand that might be your thing, which is cool but you can't criticize an album or entire genre for not being objectively musically interesting because it doesn't align with your tastes

only just realised that a verse from Wesley's Theory gets reprised in Alright, the "what you want, your own house, a guitar" one, but "Lucy" replaces "Uncle Sam" the second time

5 for this masterpiece is absolutely not overrated. King Lamar keeps the REAL Hiphop scene alive with his astonishing poetic lyrics. I truly find myself in his songs especially in his last historical song 'Mortal Man'. The story about the caterpillar goes deep and reminds me of my "childhood vs adulthood". Hero, nothing less nothing more
