MAYH is amazing but I wasn't specifically talking about their most aggressive material like Karma or Blackwater Park t/t, because that'll never happen again anyways. I more meant the heavy progressive metal style like The Drapery Falls, White Cluster, Beneath The Mire etc. that comes through occasionally still, like in Moon Above, Sun Below.

Maybe if we praise this album enough, Mikael will actually want to growl again :p

Finally listened to Sorceress, couple nice tracks on it, some bland moments, but overall great.

Looking forward to hearing that one then seeing as Axe's drumming is what I'm looking forward to the most from the new album

Same here actually.

I might bump it to a 4. It's as if they actually listened to the criticism that they've been getting and went into the studio approaching it as a blank slate. The songs don't really work out of context either.

Agreed beef. imo it's about on par with this or Deliverance, all excellent albums. Heritage is still the best of this new trilogy.

It's probably tied with Heritage right now, but no matter how much I try, I can't get into this album. It's so uninspired, and there's not a single track that brings me back to it.

EDIT: Strange Brew is an absolute jam.

It can't reach Heritage's levels, but it's definitely better than PC in a the sense of cohesion and atmosphere. Sorceress II has a unique simplicity and the nuances throughout really add to it.
