I'm honestly not a fan of the new Nickelback song. Sure its one of their better songs but how much is that saying. It's repetitive as fuck, Chad Kroeger still sounds like he has the flu, and the lyrics are pretty cliched. It's an improvement, but it doesn't make it good.

Jesus the new song is absolute garbage.
Calling a 2.0-2.5 avg on the album

Keys to the kingdom is the only song worth a damn on this album. This band has become a complete joke and the best part is seeing their retarded fans constantly defend them "Oh you aren't a TRUE fan if you don't support them for changing their sound!". Ya, they can change their sound all they want, but it continues to sound like absolute shit.

Also is there a single song on HT that Shinoda doesn't do vocals on? I mean, I guess he doesn't have to do vocals on every song (though he should) but these later albums he's on like 1/4th of the songs at most. Why is he even in the band anymore? Gotta collect that paycheck I guess.

Lmao just heard Heavy and its pretty trash yea. Why does anyone expect anything good out of LP these days?
|

I've never held LP in high regard but I've always been able to find some cheap enjoyment out of their music.

how do I rate an album like hybrid theory when there's this inner conflict of ineluctable nostalgia versus relative objectivity in appraising music that I've acquired over the years
is this a case of first world probs
|

I don't look back on any of the shit I was listening to at 12 nostalgically with the exception of American Idiot I just realise how shite my taste was
onwards and upwards

yeah true altho the other day i had an epiphany along lines of ; if that shit appealed to us so strongly back in the day and warranted hundreds of listens when we were more or less it;s target audience does that not make it meritorious in many ways? whereas i'll laud unorthodox abrasive shit which the masses would disregard as unlistenable (not because i'm puttin on some affectation because i genuinely enjoy it mind you) but is that objectively any more of a 5 than some ostensibly cookie cutter derivative alt rock which many people find enjoyable?
is this possibly an instantiation of the subjectivity of music? have i taken too many dexamphetamine?
idk what to believe anymore man i'm outtie

I don't even need to put on/take off nostalgia glasses to rate Hybrid Theory. It's just a near perfect album from start to finish. Album has zero filler, and if you start factoring in stuff like influence and cultural impact it's easily a "classic".
Meteora is a decent follow up as well, not really sure why it gets so much hate. Don't Stay is better than anything off of HT. Album is just too inconsistent. Every album after that has like 2 good songs at most on the entire album.

Can't dislike this album even if I try. Some big flaws but it just entertains me nevertheless
