Not on this site but the lyrics are the main thing I see people bash this band for besides their fanbase. Their lyrics can come across as fedora tipping, 5edgy4me, in this moment I am euphoric at times.

@mongi he's far less preachy in APC so its much easier to take in but some of the things he sings for Tool, specifically on Aenima, seem like the fragment of my personality that repressents the dark, angsty, and conceited part of my mind is the one singing me these things. like all those anxious thoughts swimming in your head late at night and the "fuck the world everyone and everything is messed up" mentality is now right there by your bed and serenading you. and its written with such familiar humour, wit, and intelligence that it becomes so easy to personally connect to. it almost romanticizes the worst parts of going through the teen years, and thats what made this band's lyrics really work for me
