hot take
Green Day are shit and this is mediocre except for the longer multipart songs
|

glad we can agree that the long songs kick ass

pretty sure there's a really big faction of their fanbase that thinks this is their best so I'm not sure that's a hot take
also it just is

Jesus of Suburbia is fantastic.

pretty sure there's an even bigger faction of their fanbase that prefers dookie

This is definitely my favorite GD. Probably the only one I truly like tbh — earlier albums like Dookie have songs I like, but the albums themselves are very hit and miss imo.

idk their run from 90-04 is pretty damn solid for the most part. Only place with some noticeable missteps is Warning for me and Shenanigans if you would count that

It probably depends when you got into them. For people my age who were teenagers when AI came out then yeah, but if you were 16 when Dookie came out (which makes you over 40 now) you would probably prefer that one.
This is third for me, Dookie and Insomniac are both better.

i'll always say 1039 is their best but this is probably second idk this or nimrod

I guess that makes sense Mary because people who think Dookie is their best aren't really Green Day fans anymore
|

Anyone else think that this is a really good album that they highly respect, but they cant listen to it anymore?

I just think it's an overrated album by an overrated band

It mattered at the time.

Way too much nostalgia attached to this for me to not enjoy it; especially Homecoming and Whatsername. I'm not motivated by it anymore, but the only reason I was back then is because I was young and really impressionable.
