I just did, I had it at a 3 earlier lol. 4 is too close to their classic albums which I just think are better than this. The classic opeth sound from 10+ years ago slays all their recent stuff

I'm trying not to overplay it until the album comes out, but it's really hard to resist haha

It doesn't sound like I'll ever get bored of it to be honest. I overplayed Cusp initially and that was only after like 7. I've doubled that with Eternal and it still feels insanely fresh.

Its those first 2 minutes man, feels like an improv piece and its sooooooooo good.
|
| |
It's all 6 minutes 28 seconds to be honest ;). But yeah that part starting at close to 1:30 is magic.

Opening is dark as fuck and Axe kills it, mid section is sweet and melodic with an awesome keyboard groove (Axe still killin it), the outro has a sweet bouncy riff and the last 12 seconds where it goes all grandiose makes me moist (Axe isn't drumming but he's still killing).

Just love the chord progression from 2:00 when it's all dropped out and it's just the clean guitar and piano. Ambient as fuck

Hahaha you be Axe fanboying. The most important thing though is this song is the first Opeth song that's blown me away and reminded me why I fell in love with the band in the first place since after Watershed.

Axe deserves love though dude like seriously, his grooves just add so much to Opeth's sound. Lopez added a lot too but I've never heard playing like Axe's before, so stoked to hear them both play on the new record.

He is a phenomenal drummer that's for sure.

He's come so far from Watershed, his performance on that was solid but pretty linear for his standards now.

Didn't really rate Axe on Watershed, he had big shoes to fill and his playing kinda suggested he knew it.
But on Heritage, and Especially Eternal he's come into his own, looking forward to hearing López with Opeth again, love his style.
