Spencer numbnuts said people didnt like this because it got too weird. They're just making excuses to justify their lame new direction

honestly would love to see something more as a spiritual successor to this but I feel as if Aaron would've held it back some. As good as he is at holding a hook, I honestly can't do much of his vocals. DTGL and LITSOS did it well because he wasn't the dominant force on more than the chorus, his cleans just get grating after a while, whereas Spencer's cleans are much more palatable imo.

Hey, if not for their "lame new direction" I would have never even thought about this band again.

Yeah I think they wanted to go in with the same popcore mindset that built TOCS with a few changes to the formula.

Nah you would've listened to them eventually. Sputnik loves (loved?) Underoath

I almost forgot they existed until "On My Teeth" released, and I was unable to truly appreciate the greatness of DTGL, LITSOS, and Disambig before like... 4 or 5 months ago?

then you really have no place to speak on the issue of the legacy of underoath or the rest of sputniks opinion about it.

"I don't have the nostalgic backing for TOCS, but it's still probably a 3.5, it has some real bangers but the writing wasn't as developed as the three albums after."
I have never wanted to hit the report button more. You have lost all credibility with me lol

I get it, it's a relative disappointment for the hardcore fans who have been there since the beginning. Honestly, Aaron's vocals took a lot of growing for me, you know how much I can do whiny (I didn't even mind Kellin Quinn), but he sounded so obnoxious when I first heard this band that it was difficult to actually keep trying until recently.
I couldn't pinpoint just where the problem was back then, though. I probably would've loved Disambig back then had I realized it was Aaron that was hindering my enjoyment of those albums before recently, but I never even listened to it back then.

I'm basically just trying to say I understand why one would be disappointed by Erase Me, but it was completely necessary for me to realize how good the last few were.
