As far as I'm concerned, Concubine & Fault and Fracture are still one of the best opening one-two punches in metal or hardcore history. Absolutely visceral

"fault and fracture" is definitely one of my favorite metal songs, and my favorite converge song. just everything

@Gwyn.: I mean, did you read that somewhere? I disagree. I’ve always understood it as Jacob Bannon coping with the traumatic end of a relationship and Jane Doe is who he was with. Been loving this album for like 7 years. Even if it has some kind of thematic goal, my ear just doesn’t like it. I would rather the song just resolve. Resolve on a big complex chord or have an actual closing section that sounds like one. Fade outs are a touchy subject for me. 8 out of 10 times I really don’t like them and would rather they just END the song. Like, you can’t play a fade out live lol.

Also, the grindcore influence on Concubine and Fault is so apparent and so good.

It sounds like jeff hanneman sold the guitarist all the riffs he wrote from his teenage years, and never used.

To me, its dirty thrash metal.

nah but really good review and album is awesome

Wow...actually, I'm impressed that you said this (in a non-sarcastic way). Of the two guitarists in Slayer, Jeff is much more influenced by punk/hardcore. If you would've said Kerry King, I would've called you an idiot.

I'm proud of you Lewis :D

Jane Doe shirts are too common at metalcore shows for the shirt to even be cool tbh.
