Schlagenheim is awesome, but I never really liked their follow-ups. And I have to say BCNR’s debut clicked with me hard (Sunglasses - what a song), but this album is already close to being pretentious dogshit. As far as consistency goes, Squid takes the Windmill cake imo.

Yeah I would’ve put shame up there until the last album, still enjoyable though.

The first 3 shame albums are very good, but to me they sound like standard pub post-punk, without the experimental edge of the other bands (black midi: prog, bcnr/squid: jazz). And I am quite indifferent to the last shame album. A huge sucker for fat white family though, but no one seems to care about them on this site.

Squid's debut was fun for a hot minute until I forgot it existed. Decent choice for sure.

Beacons was great, I’m very partial to the one before it, Room Above All.
