They are both almost tied for line-up changes too, lol. Only their guitarist and bassist are OG members.

im stoked for the new one, all three singles have been great, 18 tracks is crazy but the three singles so far are some of their most memorable/well written songs, they are really cohesive and technical without sounding like a mess.

the tillian news is awkward to say the least and ive been pretty critical of his vocals over the years but he does write great melodies and has amazing technique. Parody Catharsis is awesome. but yeah like 95% of his lyrics haved aged VERY poorly

i didnt like tides of man and was horrified when they released acceptance speech, wasnt a huge fan and though his vocals were robotic, i saw him touring that album live though right after and his vocals stole the show. insane, and he crushed all the older songs they played.

its possible this album will be bloated but if they can do 18 tracks and keep the quality these singles have shown ill be blown away.

i think theyll most likely bring tillian back because it would honestly be pretty hard to replace him, i think theyll do that or break up

they're def not breaking up

bringing tilian back would be the biggest PR nightmare for Rise but honestly I've got a weird gut feeling they might be stupid enough to take that chance

They won't bring him back. Not after he screwed them out of the Coheed tour and ruined the hype for Tim's final work with the band.

theres an argument to be made that theyre so big with so many fans that it wont affect them.

not everyone hears about everything, so theres probs a significant amount of ppl unaware of the news. also, they probably haul in new fans quite regularly due to their massive prescence on youtube etc.

basically i feel like they could get away with it (not that they should)

Alternatively:

Tilian comes back

Rise drops them and internal strife ensues among the fanbase

Bigger artists refuse to tour with them

Tilian gets replaced and the band gets a new record out the door

Songs with psuedo-creepy lyrics are cut from their setlist permanently.

^ think this would break the band (as in calling it quits) if they allow tilly back and then end up being forced to boot him as a result of label/fans/tours. Options:

(1) Keep tilly

(2) Break up and focus on secret band / all their other projects

(3) Kurt steps in as lead

(4) Andrew takes up leads

I’m leaning more towards option 2. Bringing Tilian back would be an obvious mistake, Kurt is already very busy with other stuff and may not want the DGD spotlight anymore, and Andrew (I think) would struggle as the lead guy. Andrew’s highly talented but from a songwriting and vocal diversity standpoint, he is much more limited than the 3 other frontmen they’ve had. Listening to Eidola, you can really tell how one note he is.

Die Another Day was musically an Andrew song and it shows.

does anyone know if he wrote Bloodsucker? I know him and Martin played on it instead of Will. cuz on the other hand that's one of DGD's best riffs period

Dude does not have it in him to make great melodies that are varied with his vocals and his songwriting gets repetitive and sometimes even downright boring/grating depending on what he's doing. Eidola is not a great band so him being the lead man here would just bring about the same problems

This band in general has been that way recently though. Especially if you spread it across the whole swancore genre thing. Idk Andrew probably wouldn't suddenly make the band magical again but who could at this point.

I also haven't listened to eidola at all.

And the 5 is a joke rating, my fave dgd album only has a 4.5 from me.
