This has some of their best work ever but the great songs just make the weaker ones (Winter Solstice, 2459 Miles, the closer) feel like filler. If those tracks were stronger the rest of this is nearly 5-worthy.

Absolutely. I’ve said it before, but I get chills every goddamn time during the “with an off-white deerskin wedding dress on” line. That was the song I was super bummed wasn’t on my city’s setlist

Winter Solstice is for me one of the strongest pieces here, it's simple but something about that chord progression hits me hard. Also it has "set sail in the flood of my mind" which is currently my favourite line of the album.

the problem with that logic is there are no weak songs on here -- the closer is a perfect denouement from the insanity that is Michael. As for favorite songs between this and the EP, it's a three-way race between New Wine, Michael and Bethlehem.
I have a feeling this will be 2nd or 3rd on my AOTY list but it'll be the one I end up 5ing down the road.
