it's really great yeah
although the lack of drumming is always a bit disappointing on a national track

Absolutely! It's a nice change of pace from the first single, tho. A little bit more like it came out of TWFM.

I’m sure there’ll be plenty of drumming in the hour leading up to “Light Years”

If anyone's eager to hear more of the new one, they played a big chunk of it (guests and all) in Paris tonight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li9jWxqDODE.
Apparently there's a better stream coming, but they delayed the radio livestream because of the Notre Dame fire.

This one took the longest to sink in, but it's another superb album. I don't know how they keep doing this. The past five albums are all 4.5s for me. Some of them might even go up to a 5.

Eventually they will all go up to a 5. They have for me ;-P

High Violet is my only National 5 but Alligator and Trouble Will Find Me are achingly close

Yea, High Violet may be my favorite, as well... Actually listening to that now. Just might 5 it. So good.

Boxer is my favorite, HV is a close second.

I underappreciated Boxer for a very long time despite "Racing like a Pro" having always been my favorite National song (except for when I first got into Sad Songs, which resulted in "Lucky You" ruling the roost for a couple months - still top 5 Natty for me)

“Racing Like a Pro” is my least favorite on Boxer :-/

Yea same, but that doesn't mean much for one of the best albums ever made.

It's the first National song I can recall hearing, barring maybe some sort of snippet from HV in passing. It came up when I shuffled my iPod one day in June 2012 and I was floored - it was then that I knew I had to hear more. The rest of Boxer disappointed me at the time but eventually I came around to it.

A first introduction to a band can definitely have a big impact like that. The first National tune I remember really falling for strangely enough was "Anyone's Ghost", still adore it of course but it wouldn't make a top 20 Natty for me these days.
