I do not see a realistic universe in which chasm of fire isnt by far the best song on this record

in fact, it's easily top 3 songs ever written by this band.

Sevengill's setlist seemed to be the most legit. They played Clutching Revulsion at mine and I probably could have taken any other song in its place.

I'm a drummer and basically the only thing to learn from Saint Merat is how inadequate you are

The thing about Merat (or George Kollias, or Inferno, etc) is that he does stuff that most people aren't phsyically capable of. It's sort of like watching Nolan Ryan to learn how to throw a baseball 100 miles per hour. Even if your technique is perfect, it seems like there has to be more training that goes into it.

These guys were unreal live in Chicago last week. Zhrine sneaky kind of stole the show though...

I'm a drummer and a fan of Saint-Merat and I can easily say he's one of the best out there. His technique is so flawless because he knows how to put heaviness into his sheer technicality without making anything boring. Plus, every single one of his notes is played in the perfect timing and in the right subdivision and his blasts are well accentuated and spaced out. He also does this with poli rhythms and odd time signatures. He's just such a complete drummer.

Also, he knows how to groove when he's supposed to.
