Idk Mario or donkey Kong or Zelda, it’s not like I don’t think those OSTs are classics too.

But notice how every review says “this soundtrack is meant to be heard within the context of the game.”

“As nessonic says in his review, the real strength of this soundtrack is in how it morphs with the context of the game. I'd like to add that the overall sound design of the game including the 'voices' and sound effects are utterly stellar, and a big part of the lasting charm of the game, and Kirkhope did all that stuff too. I'm rating purely on the soundtracks's strength as a standalone listen, and without all of that context you only get in the game, it's not quite as strong here.“

I guess we can all agree the music on this album is very evocative, and almost like film score or soundtrack music in its grandeur, elegance. I think this owes a lot to the compositions and production.
