"But no they had to try get on the fucking pop charts with this 17 yr old girl pseudo inspirational pop shit. 2 years in the studio wasted and squandered only to make a song that will be played in commercials on fucking mtv about teen moms."

You're pretty much describing everything they have ever put out tbh

you're not wrong

I find it funny that people are already crying "sell out" even though they were already incredibly popular to begin with. Granted its geared more towards commercialism but still.

If "Heavy" is considered selling out, why isn't Minutes to Midnight considered selling out, or Living Things? This is like the third time they've done this for crying out loud but "EWW A POP STAR IS FEATURED FUCKING SELL OUTS RIP LP 2000-2017"

Doesn't even really work as a pop song tbh. It's not catchy at all and the vocal melody is pretty clunky a fair bit of the time. Kiiara sounds bored as always and Chester sounds like absolute shit. The beat is completely dull and lifeless as well. Like nothing about this is what i want in a pop song or a linkin park song. I don't give a shit about "selling out", but as a stand alone song there's just nothing i like about it at all

It's like every time they do something a little more heavy or weird, they immediately put something out that's way more accessible.

Like

Meteora-->Minutes to Midnight (As much as I love this one)

A Thousand Suns-->Living Things

The Hunting Party-->One More Light

Or, I dunno...fucking METEORA. Living off the success of Hybrid Theory.

I agree, still, they undeniably played it safe. How many Hybrid Theory's would they need to make for people to go from "This is good" to "This is lazy", "LP on auto pilot" etc.

All heavy really needed was more complicated beat, and a rap verse from Mike. I like the lyrics but yeah song is bland af

Heavy is a good pop song. A rap verse from Mike woulda improved it though

bands change with times/ they cop just as much putting out the same album time and time again
nu metal was the vogue at the turn of the century in many ways
linkin park have alway been a mainstream act not some paragon of artistic integrity
it's asinine to say you will always be a fan of a band no matter what
the new nickelback song is only kickass relative to the rest of their discog

Heavy would be ok if it was a Kiiara song and Chester wasn't involved because his voice sounded like shit, doesn't fit at all.

because nickelback denotes incredible simplistic and perfunctory songwritting coupled with cliche lyrics that panders to the lowest common denominators (i.e those who turn their brains off when they listen to music) because that has always been their fan base - if they were to release a song that actually had some merit to it i would recant all this but they've never released anything close to that imo
They're good at what they do don't get me wrong but what they do is create disposable radio rock songs
