Arriving Somewhere is probably their best song, agreed.

Honestly don't care about this much outside of the title track, ASBNH and maybe the ending of Mellotron Scratch. But those particular songs are pretty damn epic! I just can't get behind the rest of this, it's a bit of a snoozefest overall.

Yeah Shallow, Halo and Open Car just feel really bland if anything, they stick out like a sore thumb. I don't particularly like Lazarus either but the piano riff is rather pretty at least. Arriving rules hard though man!

Huh, idk, at least the short songs here are fun
Title track is just stale bread for 10 minutes, I'll take Shallow 3 times in a row instead tbh

Nah Deadwing is a vibe to be fair, feels like it sets the scene nicely then the next 3 tracks kinda murder it, personally. In Absentia did a better job with the shorter, more generic numbers in my opinion.

Kind of a weird 5/5 rating from me. Just the 5 longest songs together would be like the best thing ever, with ASBNH being in my top 3 best songs by anyone. But the shorter songs ultimately make it probably my lowest 5.

Lol the shorter songs are the most memorable and creative things here

10 minutes just vibes, that's not enough for me. I want a cool song, not just atmospheric boredom
Probably the reason why I don't bother with stuff like Tesseract anymore lol
Yea, obviously ASBNH is the best thing here, but I am definitely preferring the shorter songs here that actually do something. Mellotron Scratch is Zzz until the second half.

It's probably just me, but I don't think Porcupine Tree can particularly write fun music, not to my tastes anyway. I've always gone to these guys for their atmospheric moody proggy stuff. Which is possibly why I actually enjoy The Incident more than Deadwing overall. If I wanted to hear songs like Shallow and Halo, I'd just play Alter Bridge instead. But I do appreciate them trying, it's just never clicked with me.

Was hoping for some spicier reactions : (
I do agree that the shorter tunes are hit or miss here, but cannot abide any Mellotron scratch slander

Mellotron Scratch is one of my favourite songs on this, love the ending to it anyways! Incident is actually the album that got me into Porcupine Tree funnily enough, so it holds that nostalgic value. I need to listen to these guys more I think, only listened to everything post In Absentia.
