You might not feel the same way but to me there's a little too much singing throughout each song, not including Caravan with that 2-3 minute instrumental section. I get they’re telling a complex sci-fi story, and the lyrics and geddys singing are good, but I like my extended instrumental sections and soloing. This still has plenty of that so it’s not a big complaint or anything. The compressed production doesn’t bother me a whole lot either, but they do keep this from perfection. Still one of my top favorite rock records of the decade.

Awesome review Kill! Just now trying to get back into Rush (my dads favorite band and so one of the first heavy bands I ever heard) I want to dig into their entire discography and hopefully get all of the albums on vinyl. I’m just now jamming this album and it sounds great! That chorus on the song “Caravan” is so ace! These guys are a huge influence on my guitar playing, when I first heard Lifeson’s solo on “Limelight” I ruined a pair of boxer shorts. I think I’ll go home and watch “Beyond the Lighted Stage” the Documentary Of Rush.

i know it's an unpopular opinion, but you should spin hold your fire, it's become my favorite rush record. more mellow and reflecting, and catchy ofc, than other rush records
