dont get me wrong , everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, but The Wall is incredible, especially for a double album, and the fact that music was changing, as it was practically 1980 upon its release.

Britney Spears was merely conforming with the style of music that was popular, and she single-handedly kept female pop singers alive during the late 1990's and early 2000's with two albums that sold more than 10 million copies each, so to be honest Britney Spears deserves recognition but she isn't all that great aside from one or two catchy tunes and her more recent material ("Womanizer") is all awful from what i can gather from the radio.
"The Wall" meanwhile was one of the most influential releases of its day and there was absolutely nothing around at the time. It took a while to catch on with some people but when the sales started picking up momentum it got a lot of recognition and Floyd became cultural icons. "The Wall" also heralded two of the best songs of Floyd's career, including "Comfortably Numb" which I have personal affection for because it helped me when my daughter was in hospital.

But it's true Jacq. Its totally different when you decide to check out a bands material from the finish line opposed to experiencing each piece when it was relevant and being showcased....two totally different experiences my friend, especially with the times.

Technically speaking I was born 7 years after "The Wall" came out but it really started getting popularity in the late 1980's/early 1990's because it took a while to settle in-those were its peak sale years, so I can say I was around when it peaked. But I understand your statement also, Jacquibim, but go back and listen to this. "Comfortably Numb" stands out to me as probably the most emotional track on the album but the whole thing I have always felt to be very solid and it flows really well.

When I'm up in the club and these niggaz they wanna act tough, 'til they get plugged watch them bullets go, now you touched from a slug hugging the streets like you in love, your heart race like the ambulance arrive they rush you to the spinner, flying by my ride engine like, homie you just died your family through crying, I pulled off a crime just as quick as...
