Escape was basiclly the filler of ride the lightning, that was the last song they wrote for that album
Sure that was the least interesting song of that album but is still a fun tune. I see more the influence of scorpions or even def leppard than the influence of glam metal bands on escape. Not saying that the whole glam metal scene sucks considering how much I like skid row, twisted sister and W.A.S.P

Skid Row and WASP rule so hard. I still jam Slave to the Grind and The Headless Children from time to time. m/

Slave to the Grind is a hard 5

I'm so close to 5'ing it Hans, but a few of the weaker songs (Get the Fuck Out, Creepshow, Psycho Love) prevent me from doing so.
That said, that album has some of my all-time favorite songs of the 80's (In a Darkened Room, Quicksand Jesus, Slave to the Grind).

That was one of my first reviews. Have been jamming it since 92 when I had it on cassette.

Its up there. I might have to go with Monkey Business because the riff destroys everything in sight

As a sit here thinking though, I think the 3 songs I just mentioned alone warrant the 5. Plus, it's the first heavy record to debut #1 on Billboard, and even that sweet album cover....
5.

The self titled of that album is pure bliss

"In a Darkened Room" is hands down my favorite Skid row song. I would probably put it in my top 10 songs of all time even. I remember reading that it was one of Dimebag's favorite songs too.

The groove in the TT could make a 75 year old Nun wet

Dude watch the popular live video of In a Darkened Room on youtube (I think it's early 90's Brazil they're playing if I remember right?). The band extends the break right before the guitar solo. Sebastian is doing some screams, and then eventually they break into the guitar solo in unison.....it's beautiful.

"The groove in the TT could make a 75 year old Nun wet"
In conjunction with Seb's vocals too........more like a 105 year old nun wet.

I think you're right

"I see more the influence of scorpions or even def leppard than the influence of glam metal bands on escape."
Well those two bands often get incorrectly lumped into the same category as glam/hair metal bands and get shit on just the same so the point still stands.
|
| |
And yeah Slave to the Grind rules hard (although it's not hair metal as such).
You really think Creepshow is a low point KJ? I always loved that song as it has that badass attitude that makes the heavier tracks on that album so good.

Yeah not a fan, Jamie. More of a "The Threat" or "Mudkicker" kind of guy for the less popular and attitude songs.
|
| |
Shit, I think I was getting Creepshow mixed up with Mudkicker. Been a while since I jammed that album, Mudkicker's the one I was thinking of, my bad.
