Takk is (somewhat) more traditionally song-focused than this or Agaetis, and some of the longer ones on it don't do as much for me as their best work. Takk is still excellent of course, I just don't enjoy it quite as much as this or Agaetis

I agree. These guys are at their best when they're at their most spacious and atmospheric. Takk is a bit lacking in that department, and this one is less good than Agaetis because of the annoying lyrics.

I mean, I don't know what Jonsi is saying when he's actually singing words so the exclusive use of Hopelandic on this one doesn't bother me.

yeah the fact that they sing in another language kinda hinders me from checking them out more cuz I like lyrics with my music and understanding them. but i know that's a silly reason

If anything Takk is a bit overrated but I still love that album a lot. It makes you feel like a little kid again.

It really doesn't matter with these guys though. Even if Jonsi sang in English I wouldn't really care what he was saying - that's not what this kind of music is about.

true boney his voice is basically an instrument in this since the language he uses is literally gibberish. but i have to be in a specific mood for this kind of music

That's kind of weird, to me most lyrics are bad or not great so I kind of just tune them out, and I tend to not notice lyrics until many listens into something anyway
A large chunk of my favorite stuff is lyric based, but yeah like I said I feel like the average band has not good lyrics so I usually don't don't bother

I don't give a shit what language they sing in. Jonsi sings straight up nonsense here but it makes it even more meaningful and his voice is heavenly.

Lyrics are usually very important part of my enjoyment but it varies based on the genre. However, I can rarely excuse bad lyrics no matter what the style is.

Lyrics probably make up like 70-80% of my emotional connection to music, it's really hard for me to connect to stuff emotionally when lyrics are subpar or non-existent. Sigur Ros and some other post-rock bands are some of the few that I can connect to emotionally without lyrics.

i have almost never connected with lyrics in my entire life which is part of why i joke about having no feelings
i kinda like the abstract approach to them here for that reason, as i'm normally moved strictly by sound and not lyrics

I can't stand listening to Christmas music until around the week of the actual holiday, so I used to jam this and Takk a lot in December. It just fits this time of year so well.
Kinda bummed that to this day, my mom still calls them "Cigar Ross" though.

it's more just how repetitive these lyrics are that irks me

My emphasis on lyrics is why so many here see my taste as "boring" - but it's not that I'm boring, I just have a different approach than many do.
It also has a lot to do with the kind of music I listen to, which is mostly singer/songwriter stuff or genres like country and indie rock where the lyricists are essentially singer/songwriters in their approach.
