I'm doing computer science. My goal is to do a PhD in what's basically all the hype these days (machine learning) -- unfortunately with that hype come hyper-competitive PhD admissions, at least for the schools like Berkeley (which is my dream school).

that's cool man. you talked with any advisors about boosting up your application as much as possible? like any volunteer stuff you can do to make it look really high-effort and involved? I'm sure you're all over it just thought it was worth throwing out there



I actually did send a couple of sputnik reviews to a mag from my hometown, and they dug them enough to give me a gig writing for them every now and then which is cool. only barely a paid job of course, it's a small rural town but met some really cool and looks sweet on the resume
