i just mean popular as in, everyone i knew dug iron maiden, when i was a teenager, i dont think i saw metallica hyped, maybe because i went into highschool when st. anger came out

they most certainly were budgie......summer sanitarium.....one of the best performances i've ever seen......sold out Giants Stadium

yeah i misspoke, when he was asking if iron maiden was big in the US, where i'm from and everyone i knew growing up, iron maiden was huge, never really knew anyone who liked metallica

not talking about america or record sales, just southern california

maiden sorta had a revitalization in the early 2000s. kids started consuming music in a different way plus you had the nwoahm really gaining steam and people started checking out their influences. i remember in the mid 90s maiden were viewed as a relic from a bygone era. dad metal i guess.
