More varied and inspired, sounds like. I think they're on the verge of really coming into their own as a prog rock band. I like how they're using more elements of their old sound this time around.

New song sucks donkey balls, it's even worse than the title track. And those lyrics, ugh.

Yeah the one-liner lyrics are annoying

What do you think of the lyrics?

I mean they do a job, lyrics have never been the focal point of Opeth's music anyway so it's all cool.

Yeah, they have definitely intrigued me more in the past tho. My issue is that on an album where the vocals are so clear (no growls too), it's easy to pick out the lyrics.

Their outros are getting really lazy. :/

It sounds grand for sure, I just think it's very lazy. Maybe it's the transition into it that I don't like? Idk. Something about it doesn't sit well.

I enjoyed them new album a lot, but highly doubt people here will enjoy it nearly as much as I did for the most part. Yea some outro transitions are a bit lazy but the album is so fun to jam to. It's a very comfortable album.

Lyrics are garbage through and through. Definitely a weak point, but nothing surprising.

"lyrics have never been the focal point of Opeth's music"

The lyric videos unfortunately force us to focus on them.

INSIDE ME SLEEPS A VIOLENCE WAITING TO BE FREED.

I have a crazy idea to free it, Mikael: Play some riffs and growl.

"The lyric videos unfortunately force us to focus on them."

You could like, press play and open another tab or go cook something. Idk. You almost seem to have expected enjoyable lyrics. Unless a band has given me incentive to actively go over their lyrical content, I just treat lyrics videos like official song releases. Because, you know, the band isn't forcing me to do anything.

The Wilde Flower's chorus is damn good. And Strange Brew's shift is already a classic.

Whenever i try to listen to opeth CD, i am always find my self uncomfortable in doin so and i've skipped it many times. I dig songs like demon of the fall, but i am pretty sure those are rare within their albums. I always find myself a better death metal band to listen to.
