I wish I could love this record. I can hear it being pretty great music, but it's too quiet and peaceful for me. River is a stellar song and I wish there were more songs like it on the album, and the only one that's more lively is South Street, and even then it's not as loud.

If you're just looking for 'loud' music then maybe this will go over your head a bit

@JS19 not exactly just loud music, but I guess this kind of calm-sounding indie rock sound doesn't do it for me. Shame, since I do see merit and quality here, I guess it's just not my thing.

I came back to this record after few months, hoping that it will grow on me, but that didn't happen.

@clumsee its a 5 for me however i totally agree with you that those 3 specific tracks (while still good) are in a slightly lower league than all the others.

River is a 5/5 song no doubt but Elder and Oak is lowkey the MVP of this album

That bridge-ish bit (you know, the "...and so we lay our backs against the weeds" bit) before the gigantic explosion at the end of the track makes me feel things, man

and our hearts did beeeeeeaaaat

oh they pounded loudly

we didnt speak, we just...stared

not a word, just silence struck upon our tongues

and heaven heaved a sigh out from its lungs

god i love those lyrics.

β€œAnd so we lay our backs against the weeds

A stony sainted silence at our feet

A million foundry fires lit up the sky

And as the city slowly stirred they died”

The Good Days always has me in a pool of my own tears. Such a quietly powerful ending to this masterpiece.

I don't listen to this unless i really need it. It's like one of those super rare potions in an RPG that refill everything and revive everyone but there's a limited number so you have to use it sparingly.

Worried when it's going to run out

Youngblood is one of the best songs off this album. It's such an ambitious, adventurous song.
