Has anyone heard the new record yet? I really like it, but it is no where as good as this or AOBU.

the issues i have with it are that for some reason the formulaic structures of the songs are more bothersome and noticable this time around. it never really bothered me too much before. their last two albums had a few songs that were straight up rippers without any singing, this album lacks that. theres not one deep growl like on the powerless rise, which is a disappointment. i liked how varied the vocals were on that album. the breakdowns are even more boring than usual, and unlike on the powerless rise, most of them arent well placed and dont allow the song to flow. the first half of the album is enjoyable, but the quality drops off in the second half. lastly, it ends on an anticlimactic note. their last two albums had appropriate and satisfying endings. this album just flickers out with a rather sub-par track which contains "whoa's". ugh. nowhere near a 4 for me.

awakened is the first album by them that i just feel "meh" about, and ive got a soft spot for this band. i might warm up to it though, i didnt like ocean or powerless very much when they first came out either.

i dissagree. Sounds much more developed than most of their previous works.

I was honestly surprised by how much more simplistic and formulaic Awakened sounds. In

contrast, The powerless rise has so much more going on. Judging by the early reviews, I was sure it

would fair better.

Still, it is a constantly good album. I gave it a 3.5
