Agreed on the fantastic drumming. Pretty much every track here hits home for me.

the bass on this album changes at the perfect times from aquatic ambiance to deep thundering growls

easily one of the best metal albums ever made. Such a brilliant and beautiful mix of post rock and sludge metal.

It's certainly a near-ideal mix of the two styles. I agree.

Yes Jeff’s bass on this is the star of the show along with Aaron’s drumming. Just pristine.

Listened through their discography now. Very stellar.

Now can anyone rec bands, that are like Isis from Panopticon to this?

Meaning: some clean vocals, more atmospheric than straight out heavy, lengthy + proggy songs, conceptual etc.. Intronaut, Amenra and Palms (self explainatory, sucks that there is only one record) are the ones i know that fit the bill. However, i would greatly appreciate if someone knew some maybe lesser known bands, since all the post-metal staple groups are familiar now for me

I recommend listening to Jakob. They’re a post rock band at heart but they’re the heavier side of it and one of the best of the genre.

Knew that many people compared them to the less heavy Isis. Thanks bro! Anybody got some band with vocals?

That’s kinda all I got haha sorry. See what others have to say. In my book there’s just not many bands that do what Isis does on the same level. You’ve listened to Tool right? Isis are very influenced by them.

Thanks. Are only those albums the ones with vocals on them from the respective artist?

Try out some stuff without vox man. Post metal aside some of the best music out there has no vox (; *cough* Hammock *cough*

I listen to some Post Metal without vox, but since i already listen to so much instrumental Post Rock it can get kinda boring. Of course i listened to Tool, who in this thread hasn't :D ?

I can’t get enough of post rock haha. And anyone who hasn’t listened to Tool around these parts get stoned to death so good on you!

I think he knows that. But my requirement was that the vocals should be at least partly clean. All your Cult Of Lunas and Neurosises of this world don't have that at all
