Screaming Trees are underrated. Dust is a superb album but I didn't get into them until hearing Mark Lannegans stuff. The man is a legend.

Alice in Chains certainly soundtracked a lot of miserable school days. The Smiths were probably the best for them days.

Portuguese schools? I wonder how it would compare. Are the girls slags?

Yeah i'm just getting into Screaming Trees as well, I thought I'd check them out because I love Lannegan's work with Queens of the Stone Age.

No doubt man, Dust is one of my favorites of the genre, Buzz Factory and Sweet Oblivion are excellent as well. Yeah, AiC were on high rotation in the more insufferable days at school. Still are, since I'm still at school :]

Ah some of them are, others are actually quite nice and surprisingly not as self-obsessed as you'd imagine them to be. How was it there for you, matey?

Fucking horrific I hated school. The dread while walking through them gates will never be forgotten but on the plus side the girls were slags :D The music 'scene' was amazing as well plus Super Nintendo.

find it hard to comprehend that some people refer to school days being 'the best days of your life'...fuck me no way

I remember getting told off a fair bit, aged about 14 I kept drawing a really detailed copy of the sepultura logo on the back of my hand in black felt tip pen, I thought this was the coolest thing ever, what a doughnut

If Nirvana was all songs like Aneurysm and Territorial Pissings, nobody here would have heard of them.

I disagree about that. Teen Spirit was obviously the catalyst but I think it really was their time. Any tune from this was just so refreshing back then that if it wasn't Teen Spirit it would've been something else that would've catapulted the band into the mainstream and Kurt being heralded the 'spokesperson for a generation'.

Yeah Zak, only at certain sporadic moments did I feel "at home" being in school. The few upsides to it are the fact that I pretty much nail every sport and am one of the class' best athletes, even though I'm skinny as fuck for my height and can barely lift weights, and the fact that I'm a pretty strong student.

Any of you guys ever checked out Candlebox? They were another Seattle band from the 90's and their debut is pretty sweet. Also Gruntruck is another Seattle band worth checking out.

I was pretty rubbish at sports. I was in the school footy team though and scored a few 3yd tap-ins but in my mind

Gruntruck had jams, but Skin Yard (which had one or two founding members of Gruntruck) was even better. Great drummers they had, Matt Cameron and Barrett Martin. 1,000 Smiling Knuckles is an excellent album.

Candlebox, I remember hearing the debut a couple of times when the name first appeared to me. Some decent post-grunge, a bit too much generic sometimes but had one or two okay tracks, never felt motivated to check more stuff of theirs though.

Ahah Zak, basketball, volleyball and handball were always my swing, since I have some freakishly long arms. Most fun I ever had while at school was winning those little basketball tournaments the school used to organize.

I've heard of Skinyard because of Gruntruck, but I've never given them a listen. Sounds like I should check 'em out.

i understand that, so they put out a product more closely resembling pop rock, which was smart and they were good at that, but those raw songs were more real
