Drifter: No flow whatsoever. Has so many ideas but none of them work together in any meaningful way. Lost could've been a decent track, without the auto tune. Unbound could've been a decent track, without the female vox and that godawful children's choir. Scream is absolute corn, and there is (ironically) no saving Dear God. A Little Piece of Heaven is essentially some orchestra feat. M. Shadows and The Rev. Admittedly, it could've been a decent track, but there's no reason at all for it to be 8+ minutes long, that and it really could've used a solo in there somewhere. Huge missed opportunity for Syn. That leaves us with Critical Acclaim (whose far right conservative shouting portions nearly ruin btw), the extremely generic Almost Easy (though I do love that chorus with all the members singing simultaneously), Gunslinger, Brompton Cocktail, and Afterlife. The last of those two are very good tracks imo, with Afterlife being one of Avenged's best. Idk just my 2 cents. And I'm a A7x fanboy of the highest order.
Amongst fans of the band, I don't think you're in the minority drifter. Most fans I know personally love the album, I get a lot of shit for not liking it.
As it stands, Nightmare, City of Evil, and especially The Stage and Waking the Fallen shit all over this. Even Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is a lot better than what's here.

I'm also a big A7X fan, and I think this is the worst by a clear mile. It's so contrived, soulless, and boring that even a copycat album like Hail to the King shits all over it. I never understood how this could be the followup to something as good as City of Evil

Yeah the shouting in critical acclaim does ruin it

Not as bad as the shouting in "Little Piece of Heaven"
"COME HERE YOU FUCKING BITCH"

I never thought I'd hear the lovechild of retarded Limp Bizkit angst and Oingo Boingo experimental rock, but here we are

lol I actually love that part soccer.
Totally tongue in cheek, they knew what they were going for with that track. Execution leaves a little to be desired though. Certainly not the best on here, but it's far from the worst (that's Dear God by a country mile)

No that song is love

Yea Dear God is one of the few rock-go-country songs that I genuinely like, the guitar work at the end of the song is top
