that cover is so fucking beautiful, and just goes to show the sense of melodies Jari has. sounds like the song was made for that setting too
I used to listen to this album nonstop years ago lol so I will do that again

Still know every word to like half these tracks after years of not listening to it.
Jari's an asshat now, but this album was my life 10 years ago

Thanks for reminding me to jam this. It's been a long time

I listened to it driving home for lunch and had a blast screaming along to Beyond the Dark Sun and Winter Madness.

Yeah this is Magnificent, this also sounds very humble and more inspired unlike Time which is too over the top.

This sounds like a guy that was fed up with playing folk metal and wanted to pour all his creativity into a melodic death masterpiece.
Time I is what happens when that guy gets an ego, a bunch of money and blew his creative wad on the s/t

That said, I enjoy Time I a fair bit and think the Ensiferum s/t is better than this

Ensiferum is overall better, but this album exceeds their s/t imo. This sounds grandeur but perfectly done unlike Time I. I really liked where Jari was heading as a musician, but at this point Wintersun seems like a vanity project. Bands like Summoning keep producing similar (almost movie score like music) with limited resources

Good analysis, Nazzadan. Jari's updates during the making of Time were pretty annoying.

Perhaps worse than all that is how Petri insists on playing without a shirt even though his upper body looks like a pale zoidberg

Ensiferum s/t rules, but can't touch this. As for Time I..... Not even in the conversation.
|

For some reason I really don't like this album
