This is Dio-Sabbath so it has no chance of being any higher than top 7.

If it weren't for H&H's t/t this would be pretty much as good as that album.

H&H is more consistent [2]. "Die Young" and "Children of the Sea" are also of lyrical brilliance.

H&H is a little bit more consistent but this sounds more like Sabbath

I would seriously put both 80s Dio Sabbath albums and the first three as my five favorite Sabbath albums.

"Southern Cross" is a great contender for the greatest metal song of 1981.

Did Dio write all the lyrics to this album, or did he and Geezer split?

Album Rating: 4.2
I think it's Dio on both this one and H&H.

Album Rating: 3.5
One of the main reasons I don't really enjoy this album is that I find it odd that there's such a vast difference in the lyrics of songs like Country Girl and Turn Up The Night when compared to more traditionally dark tracks like Sign of the Southern Cross and Voodoo.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. It doesn't bother me personally but it can have an effect on consistency and the overall atmosphere of the album. Still, a 3.5 is a pretty high rating.
