Problem is that this album did not have the dynamic tone or palette you notice on Morning View. That album sustains its 13 tracks with ease. Here, I think with 14 tracks it runs into a bit of repetition, and feels stretched out. Solution would have been take 2 or 3 tracks to a B-sides, then that leaves the guitar-heavy splendor to shine.

cut this down to 12 tracks with Pantomime in the mix and you're golden

i'm generally fine w/ the length, but gun to head I'd probably knock off Deevil & TV Movie

on that note, if I had to knock anything off Pulp's This is Hardcore, that would also be a track called "TV Movie"

There's a lot of good riffs on this album, but it does go on a bit, mostly because the style is very similar throughout.



If I had to cull some songs, it'd be Beware! Criminal and Southern Girl. Both are extremely tepid sounding soft rock songs.



Favourites are probably Megalomaniac, Sick Sad Little World, Pistola and Priceless.

Speaking of takes that won't end will, I think this is worse than Light Grenades. First 7 tracks are pretty good/great but holy fuck does it begin to get pretty miserable after that.
