People are just trying to be edgy. Doesnt even make sense to not like dimmu at all but think this is great

Yeah as if this is such a radical departure from what they’ve been doing forever

2 other excellent symphonic bm albums were released the same day as this
Ludus Umbrarum - Ascensus Cadentium
Opera IX - Veneficium

Agreed hard with Eak.

very cinematic, the keys in qryptfarer are probably the best keys in black metal ive ever heard
would love to see these tracks live, borgir was one of the first bands i saw. actually i think they were the first band
i dont see myself listening to this otherwise though, theres just not enough guitar and i like guitar in my metal
slik minnes et alkymist is prob my fav track, also the most guitar driven track
sounds like they put their soul into this record

holy shit, I got so caught up in Galder bringing back Old Man's Child that I forgot that this was releasing
2 tracks in, pretty good. definitely better than expected of them. Already hearing one recycled OMC riff in "Ascent" though lol

I think they did a good job of making this pretty equally guitar and keys driven. It's not a riff fest of course but I thought there were some pretty cool riffs here. That folky intro in repository was refreshing to hear from them. Couple cool solos. Some nice twin guitar parts. Even when the guitar plays the backdrop role I felt like there were interesting things going on and nice key changes and such

That fucking doomy section with the spoken word at the end of recognizant is so badass

repository my fav song so far, still can't get over the fact so many riffs are still the same melodies galder already wrote in 1994 tho haha

ok this is like 3.4 from me for now
much more mature compositionally than probably anything they ever did, full of nice and mellow atmospheric moments etc and overall pretty good all around
I wouldn't put it on par with DCA though. Guess I'll wait and see what Galder cooks up

See, thats where we disagree. I LOVE Galder, but the riffs are so much more creative here than the past couple of albums.

@xfing
Not saying you're wrong but what melodies are ripped off? I've listened to OMC a lot and didnt pick up on that

I’ve listened to this one 3-4 times and I’m just not feeling it
I’ve been listening to it while working and it’s not clicking, I gotta try in a different mindset, but nothing is incredibly memorable for me :/
