the production is a little poopy on this one, comparatively. mostly with tommys vocals. they're unbearable in some spots.

also i would say this album is more "br00tal" than their more recent shtuff.

still rocks though. waior shouldn't listen to jizz. man through it

Bah. This CD owns, you're off your rocker. A couple parts drag their heels a bit, but no worse than the last few minutes of "Roboturner" do. The Silent Circus is no Alaska, but it sure as hell ain't no 2, either.

Klekticist, go for Alaska first. It's a lot more similar to Colors.

Yeah, for sure. But I mean, as a new listener just coming out of Colors, Alaska is leagues more accessible than The Silent Circus.

I'm not sure about LEAGUES more. The Silent Circus mellows out a lot in the second half, which I think draws a lot of non-metal listeners in in much the same way as Selkies and Backwards Marathon do.

I dunno. It's hard for me to comment on these things, because I always like the heavier songs BtBaM writes. Alaska, Roboturner, and Fire for a Dry Mouth. Accessibility isn't as much of an issue for me, so you might be right.

Meh.....this was good, but nothing compared to Colors. Don't get me wrong, I liked the album, but Colors was so much more Progressive and different. This was too hardcore oriented for me.

I agree with Hollier.

The really scratchy/abrasive screams irk me on this album, I prefer his vocals on later albums tbh. Mordecai and Ad a Diglgmut are my favorites.

his cleans are so much better on this album though, they are so good in shevanel and ad a diglgmut. I may raise my vote.

Can't disagree there, Shevanel is surprisingly awesome. The growls are more predominantly used though and I think they've gotten much stronger.

Oh man, Tommy sounds pretty bad on this record but on The Need for Repetition he sounds awesome (even if the lyrics are pretty lame).
