The songwriting is a little too fatty in some spots here. It could've been a little more concise.

Anyone know how their name is pronounced? Ah-gal-osh?

I've been wondering how to pronounce their name for a long time too.

Well it's named after Aquilaria Agallocha so I'm assuming Ah-gal-loke.

I go back and forth between liking this and Pale Folklore the best. The Mantle drags a little much but "In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion" is their best song.

I personally think this is their weakest album. Still good though.

The Tricky Trick's knows his Agalloch.

This was my first experience with the band and I find Pale Folklore and The Mantle rape this album from start to finish. Plus this album is just so inconsistent, going from one of their strongest album openers to one of the worst endings I've ever heard on an album that should have been solid all the way through. The last three songs are absolutely skippable and a waste of cd space/ hard-drive.

I think this pretty much kills The Mantle even though The Mantle is great too. Pale Folklore kills both of them though.
