FWIW, I also found headphones far superior to my car stereo, although it's not exactly Bentley levels of sound fidelity

Honestly, I got a little annoyed when I saw that Deftones tag, but this sounds pretty good.

@Sowing, that tracklist you suggested easily puts it in a 4.5 contention (maybe truly a 5). It flows so well.

Right? It just makes sense to combine the best of East and West into one album.

Definitely. Just saved as a playlist and from now on is my official version of this project hahah
Vesper Light coming after Gnash and going down the Water EP influenced tracks (Dandelion and Undertow) works really really well.
And the omission of Albatross makes it better by default.

Agreed (obviously). I don't mind Albatross but it doesn't fit the vibe I wanted to go for and the lyrics are bit silly in the first place.

Oh now I want to try an East/West playlist

brandaao was referencing a post of mine from the previous page. Sorry I didn't make it into a Spotify playlist/link yet, but here's my track order:

2. Gnash
3. Vesper Light
4. Dandelion Wine
5. Undertow
6. Buried in the Sun
7. Scavengers
8. Distant Suns

Agreed with any and all praise showered on Distant Suns. What a stunner.

"Distant Suns" is by far the best song here. It sounds like "Between the End and Where we Lie" and "Of Dust and Nations". Probably the closest to early Thrice next to "Undertow", which sounds like something off Alchemy.

“Nice to hear more Major/Minor praise”
Such an underrated album. My second favorite Thrice after Vheissu (my favorite Thrice song is probably Firebreather though).

Only my first listen but I like this quite a bit. Certainly better than Palms and a little better than H/E I think, which I liked a lot. Might even rank it above TBEITBN.
Blackout is a great fucking opening track. These guys always know how to start things right. Also love Gnash, Albatross (first 4 tracks are ace), The Dark Glow and Vesper Light are the instant highlights for me, though I’m sure some others may grow on me with repeat listens, and possibly some of the mentioned tracks will take a backseat — Undertow and Distant Suns definitely have something to them for instance, but they didn’t grab me on first listen. I think they’ll grow on me though.

I will sing praises of Major/Minor.from the rooftops.

It's good, but I prefer Beggars for their later material

If anything, Major/Minor is incredibly overrated. It was the proper start of dad rock Thrice, actually. I like it, so don’t get me wrong, but it was a massive step down from Beggars imo

This album is trash. Super disappointing.

I like Major Minor, but it was the first album of theirs where I felt like the melodies weren't memorable. I still enjoy it though. And Anthology is a top 5 Thrice song so there's always a reason to come back to it.
