The drumming on this is pure nonsense. The guy (not a real member btw) just does random djent noodle fills the entire time. Almost hilarious at times

That can be said for the whole album tbh. Vocalist is the worst frontman in the history of music.

Their songwriting really is nonsense. Like especially on the one before this,

. The moment something cool starts to happen in the song it just abruptly stops.

How can anyone like this? I could make a case for most artists or bands, but this is beyond my capabilities.

“ Album of the year according to revolver magazine btw.”

Unreal. Never thought I’d see the day where Revolver stoops to Kerrang levels of dumbass.

I saw their awards, it makes sense I guess. The four alternate covers are all super mainstream so ofc these guys would be on it, they’re at that level.

Idk just looking at it from a “trying to sell more copies” angle it makes sense.

Band of the year: Deftones

Album of the year: Sleep Token

Song of the year: Amy Lee, Poppy, Courtney La Plante

Live Band of the year: Ghost

Idk I like ghost so that makes sense to me, and so does the Deftones pick. They’ve had a huge resurgence and are now one of the most popular metal bands on the planet, headlining their own festival at a fuckin stadium, still putting out great music, bringing great bands on the road with them etc, and Ghost is killer live.

Those other two? Nah. That Amy Lee song was just a fun gimmicky track at best and this record is obviously trash, they’re pandering with those two imo. The Amy Lee one is honestly probably the most egregious. Did anyone really like it that much? Song of the year? It’s just a kinda awkward mashup of all three of their bands. And I’m saying that as someone that actually really digs a lot of Poppy’s music at least

this band just fucking sucks man Jesus Christ. Mainstream metal is in a dire state if these dipshits are the torchbearers.

Mainstream is a euphemism lol. No mention of Testament, Coroner or anything else remotely « under the radar » (lol), its literally the Top 40 of metal. Embarrassing to say the least.

Quality aside, "the future of metal" is a fucking RnB band.

It looks like testament actually got nominated but looking at all of these… it just goes to the most mainstream band nominated. And if that band already got an award then it goes to the next one in line.

If they didn’t give Deftones Artist of the Year, private music would’ve been called AOTY, and vice versa. Or they would’ve given it to the Ghost record and said Deftones were the best live band. It’s all just to sell more copies. I’m not really pressed over it. Revolver actually does do some good coverage a lot of the time, it’s just they have to act like all of these bands are good along with all of the more underground bands they cover otherwise the magazine won’t fuckin sell.
