to be fair, I have had the BCNR subreddit come up on my reddit feed a few times and people said things like Isaac being the GOAT and Forever Howlong being a generational album, but I didn't pay it any mind because those people are probably actually 16 lol

ngl i listened to this twice and did not catch that there were multiple vocalists on here lmao (and i say that as someone who likes the vocals)

That's kinda crazy to me lol May and Georgia have a similar timbre so I can get that, but Tyler sounds completely different, far more operatic

that's actually hilarious as at some points but def not the whole album i thought "damn she sounds really similar to georgia from jockstrap", not realizing that georgia is literally in this band. today i fucking learned lmao
speaking of... new jockstrap when?????????????

If you read the pitchfork review they basically made them out to be this muscular 3 headed monster which is funny because this album is not any of that

This album lasts forever. How long? Forever howlong
feels like it, anyway
had no idea about the Jockstrap thing either
|
| |
how long is forever really
|

maybe BCNR hitting the dumpster means that Jockstrap will finally make good music

Some shower thoughts on the title
Isn't the proper grammatical phrase "for however long"? the title reads like a misnomer of that phrase which slightly bothers me but maybe it's a british thing
However I enjoy the likely unintentional homophonic relation to "forever howling" which is a bit more evocative...
The third scenario is that the misnomer is in slight reference to the lyrics "BCNR friends forever" from Up Song - friends forever, but how-long is forever truly in the grand scheme of things? Hmm

I think they pulled off a miracle here. Not only is this listenable without Isaac Wood's fingerprints, it's downright excellent. I totally understand those unwilling to flow with the start aesthetical changes, but not many acts brave such a move as this (like Genesis and Pink Floyd are the biggest that come to mind?) and I more than applaud the excellent music presented here.

so what's going on with Isaac now? I know he stepped away due to anxiety which was obviously very debilitating if he was willing to walk away from his highly successful band in order to combat it. but surely watching the band go on without you and seeing their success from the sidelines is extremely depressing too

^honestly this feels like an AI generated album in every way, even the title. The lyrics read AI generated as well. I do think the album art is cute but it could even be as well. Or maybe they did an AI generated art idea and had someone fix it up. Either way, yeah, Forever Howlong feels AI even as a title. I was replying to Django. Idk where the last two replies came from lol

can you expand on how anything here feels "AI generated" cause it really just feels like a lazy critique to dismiss the creative process behind the album just because you don't like it

“I shall boil some beans
I should get my vitamin B
The last video I watched told me the pH of my gut microbiome was certainly causing my blues
So I fill myself up with fiber as dusk begins to set
The old man across the street
The clinical glow from your window
Why don’t you get a warm lamp?
It looks like a tiny UFO is trying to land in there
His head begins to droop
And I make eye contact with his balding patch
Turn off the TV, old man”
This is just absolutely painful

That is the worst line of lyrics I’ve ever read. Sounds like Judy Funnie from Doug wrote it. It’s middle school drama class at best. AI at worst.

I mean I’d take Isaac’s slam poetry any day. Yeah the Charli XCX wet dream in Basketball Shoes is a bit cringy but it at least works with the delivery. I could at least feel he felt that way. This just feels manufactured

I'm not commenting on the quality of those lyrics I'm just saying it's not the cadence of AI at all

I think saying something sounds AI generated should be banned as a critique. It means nothing.
