Fuckin hell, Goodbye, Sunshine alone feels like modern Coheed meets NWFT-era Coheed and it's fantastic. This album's already peak

The transitions on this album are fucking insane, Blind Side Sonny into Play the Poet is S-Tier

I was already a pretty big Vaxis II defender, but this beats Vaxis II so unbelievably hard that it feels criminal to put them in the same series

Searching for Tomorrow did not adequately prepare me for how insane Coheed would go here

And the whole song kept pace with that intro too. Probably the best intro to a suite since Fuel for the Feeding End?! And The Flood's just as good, this is gonna be a high rating

Yeah, this is the best fucking album they've made in a very very long time. I really wonder what revitalized them like this... and what made them choose Blind Side Sonny as the lead, though it works FAR better in the whole album

The singles really were misleading lol but I’m kinda glad they went that route and saved all the best surprises for the full release.
That being said, they do fit better on the album itself and thank god they tweaked the mixes on them to turn the guitars up

Whoa this good. His voice has aged so well

Lmao I didn't know the track had even changed the first time re: BSS/Play the Poet and I was like holy fuck when did this song get good, did I forget about this part from listening to and hating the single?
Ope nope, it's a new song good job.

Claudio's voice is amazing. Maybe the best it's been. Not sure if it's the modern version of their vocal production or just his delivery, but it's almost too smooth...so many lines just kind of glide by without making any real impact

Same thing happened to me. It should almost just have been one song. So good

Yeah quitting smoking was a career saver for Claudio because he was sounding really rough live around the time YOTBR came out. The one thing I drastically miss about his voice though is he never does his soft almost whisper-like singing anymore. He did it all the time on songs like Time Consumer, God Send Conspirator, Neverender, In Keeping Secrets, 21:13, etc. It added an extra dynamic for when his high pitched vocals would come soaring in.
Also, the title track on here is so fucking good. I haven't seen it mentioned much but I think it might be my favorite song on the album.

He also threw in more offbeat staccato passages. Like he used to force the words into a song.
Everything is smooth as silk but sure doesn't feel as dynamic as it once did

Oh shit this is really good so far. Lfg boyzz coheed backk

Album Rating: 4.0
consistent with the other vaxis albums in that it still gives primarily dad rock energy with small glimpses of past greatness. not that i listen to coheed for this, but the storytelling is really poor with these vaxis albums

This is growing on me. Feeling a 3.8 if I'm being specific. The weakest songs for me are actually Goodbye Sunshine and Meri of Mercy, mainly because they feel a bit too familiar for some reason. One Last Miracle I wasn't too hot on but then I realised how catchy that chorus is and yeah, it's actually pretty awesome! Better than V2 for sure, maybe on par with V1, possibly even better after a few more spins!

On my 4th spin and I think this is clicking now. Felt like a lukewarm 3-3.5 at first but this is getting its hooks in me. Still not sure it tops Vaxis II. I may be alone in this opinion but that album was one of their best.
