There's always some mid to scathing ratings sprinkled in. Their combination of styles provides a non-insignifcant attack surface for criticism, I guess. If you hate caveman slam with a passion, for example, many of their songs would fail the first pass. Vocals have always been monotonous and kinda unremarkable as far as bdm goes etc.

the least i've ever liked one of their albums on first listen, but i assume that won't hold up over time. still fantastic
