I don’t think any Paysage has filler personally

Filler probably isn't the right word but there are some tracks across his discography that don't necessarily justify their length

One or two parts here I changed songs thinking alright mate you've got the point across, whereas on Das Tor its mesmerizing enough that I don't notice the length. Maybe that will change with future listens.

fair game, sometimes I do feel like songs could be 10 minutes instead of 18. but the longer it's been since Das Tor, the more I feel like it's definitely part of a Big Three with Winterkaelte and the self-titled.

Album's fantastic

Nothing can knock off a few of his earlier works for me, but I don't mind full lengths / "cleaner" sound after all

Definitely fantastic. Still listen to it on a daily basis.

I think even with some slightly higher production values it still sounds very natural and serves the atmosphere appropriately. That one moment in the last quarter of Ausstieg is pure bliss

Gonna give this another try tonight in headphones. Recovering from surgery and new music has saved my sanity. Any other bands similar to this with sprawling long albums but maybe a bit more "high value" production?

I would recommend Spectral Lore - III. A bit higher production quality with more progressive songwriting but still very atmospheric.

I also highly recommend Der Schein des schwärzesten Schnees by Moloch. That album deserves so much more love.

Moloch rules so hard Scuro bro. So underappreciated.

Are the drums Midi on this? I was able to get through the first two tracks last night and found new things to enjoy about each. Gonna keep plugging along here

Pretty sure he's been using a drum machine since the 90's (in fact, the same drum machine per my source lol).

from an interview i read he does both acoustic and programmed drums just depends on what he feels suits the album best but i think most are programmed

This is not a complaint, but the drumming sometimes is so low in the mix and I know if its there anymore

In terms of atmosphere this is amazing.
