For the most part, a good album, but the songs could use a little bit of variety, musically wise

It's a tough album to listen to straight. If you pick out individual songs to listen to in a mix, it's awesome! For example, the Legacy is a new favorite Maiden song of mine, however it's tough to listen to after listening to Lord of Light

The Legacy is one track which I listen to quite frequently. Love the intro.

I ruined it by posting. Unless it goes on the next page, which would make me look like an idiot.

I love pretty much all the songs on this album, but Brighter Than a Thousand Suns is my fav.

It's a great album. 4.5 won't be too much for this brilliant work. Anyway compare this to Tool's 10,000 days? You gotta be kidding me. Different approaches. 10,000 days is good but got too much filler on it

Awesome Review man, Maiden is the best band ever next to Metallica. I think different world should be on the recommended list, but hey thats just me. your review owned all the others.

I haven't heard any "new" Maiden material since the days of Somewhere In Time.
Because of this review, I'm going to give this album a shot. Couldn't tell you why I
stopped listening, but it's definitely a long time coming I start again. This Message Edited On 12.19.06

IMO Dance of Death's best song > A Matter of Life and Death's best song

But I think this album as a whole is better than Dance of Death.

Yeah, I agree. I haven't heard this whole album yet, but DOD seems better. This, however, has better album art... by far

ahem, allow me to have my input on this:

Dance of Death was my first Iron Maiden album, therefore striking my interest in them and I feel that album is absolutely awesome, with only one lowpoint and that being Gates of Tomorrow. DOD is a much easier listen all the way through than this is.

However, I feel as though AMOLAD tops it. The writing is better on this and I feel they matured progressively since Brave New World, and for the better. Even though the song lengths are a tad bit too long, I'd have to say this beats DOD by just a tad. Opinions, of course!
