“They’ve been getting progressively more improv since Love in Shadow“
interesting. This doesn’t feel too unstructured. It is bleak and I think the improv nature of it almost accentuates the feeling of uneasiness. Oppressively dark and heavy sludge / doom etc. can almost become comfy if it’s riff-based and very deliberately structured. Often repetition just gets you into that groove. Sounds odd perhaps, but I think you just get used to it once the initial adjustment has been made. Just a thought.

based move to have the hardest nut to crack first (for me anyway) and at 25 mins too, lol… now the World of Light is suffocating!

Opener might be my favorite track tbh

You have my vote
Yeah maybe now tect, I just found it harder to grasp on the first couple of goes. It takes a while to unfold so I can see why some may lose patience when it’s the opening gambit

2 weeks later and I really do think this is their best work since What One Becomes, maybe their best work period. Saw them live last week, they played Yellow Dawn and World of Light back to back and it was just captivating live. Insanely good band and tied with Convulsing for my personal metal AOTY so far

Yeah, this is borderline phenomenal
It honesty makes most / all(?) other ‘24 music feel so unbelievably futile
Powerful. Engrossing. Suspenseful.

This album is just nuts from start to finish. I still have to give it a full spin on my stereo system in the basement to rock the house but in headphones this thing is just rich and thick
