First track is the weakest, agree. It kinda feels like the drums are too loud in the mix on that one, and then it's fine after that.

I still like it but it does sound/feel a bit off compared to everything that comes after it. My truck speakers make it sound better than my good headphones, which is a switch.

I listened a LOT to écailles and kodama, trying to get the hype back then, but I just found them to be 2 separate bands, the pure BM songs were amazing, but the shoegaze ones kinda sucked...
I've only listened to this once but it seems that has been amalgamated way better than those albums.
Still not my cup of tea.

Yeah this is my second favorite right after Kodama

Maybe I just listened to this at the exact right time, but that second track got me legit emotional in a way that hasnt happened since Agalloch days for me

Part of my excitement for this is it brings me back to my feelings of listening to Kodama. I was expecting so much for SI, and it just missed the mark unfortunately, but this put them right back on track.

The drums sound amazing, still can’t get over how bad the first track is. It’s sounds absolutely amateurish compared to the rest of the record

Agree with Jesper's assessment that this is the ideal "intro to Alcest" album, but it's up there with their best by most metrics as well, after a few listens. The first song is enjoyable but a bit weaker than the rest of the tracklist to my ears.
