Brat's cover artwork and packaging was designed by New York City-based studio Special Offer, Inc.[20] The cover, a low resolution lime green square with the title disproportionately imposed on it, was met with criticism. In a cover story interview for Vogue Singapore, she told Chandreyee Ray that the criticism led her to question why fans feel "ownership over female artists" so much so that they demand their photograph be on all of their work; she had previously dubbed it "mysoginistic [sic] and boring" on Twitter. She further explained the album cover and particularly the colour choice, deeming green heavily oversaturated in the media and fashion "as of late": "I wanted to go with an offensive, off-trend shade of green to trigger the idea of something being wrong. I'd like for us to question our expectations of pop culture—why are some things considered good and acceptable, and some things deemed bad? I'm interested in the narratives behind that and I want to provoke people. I'm not doing things to be nice."

aka it’s a statement

9/10 times when an artist makes a statement piece they are stating that they are a conceited douchebag

@nol lmao typical trashy rhethoric, i fucking hate it.
it's just an ugly boring cover art. It happens to the best (Bowie's "reality", infamous example). It's ok, there's no need to make it a hill to die on.

anyone who had to read that interview quote to understand the artwork deserved something uglier

nol do you think if you parents ever once showed you so much of a modicum of affection you wouldn’t get so bent out of shape whenever anyone other than yourself gets any attention?

i think the brat artwork is a fine statement by an artist who was bordering on full frontal nudity on their previous three album covers and operates in a niche of music where that's been essentially the standard for what album artwork should be
album art is all just marketing at its most basic level and you are just not gonna miss that revolting lime green scrolling through spotify + its generated more discussion than any cover art i've seen this year.
i think that's far more valuable to the d i s c o u r s e than say... charli putting her tits on the hifn cover and the entire straight male part of her base (including our very own 99% male userbase) quietly enjoying while also not commenting on it at all out of fear of being called a perv, and then totally copping the vinyl "for the music bro".

stunning how in a thread that universally (and rightfully) glazes this album we have to suffer such terrible takes so consistently

i don't think charli rejects nor regrets her previous cover artwork tbh imo, but still, as she stated (?, she's not obliged to give us a photo of her

ok but how big is the straight male faction of her fanbase, and who would buy a vinyl just to fap to the cover artwork lmao
