He is without a doubt a talented singer. I just feel like that vocal style and how it is implemented takes away a bit of the grit I prefer in my metalcore. I know I am in the minority there

see i think the buttrock-ness of his voice helps him maintain that grit in his cleans. i dig that there's not much separation between his harshes and cleans. too many of these metalcore dudes almost sound like two different people.
like i think his cleans have way more dirt to them than the aforementioned palumbos and buckleys typically do. the deeper register def helps.

The first 3 tracks on this go nuts, especially Past Material. Funnily enough, Sick and Lavish is my least favorite here so I'm a little surprised to see its praises being sung so highly but damn these guys are killing it.

Funny enough I have the same problem w Glassjaw as Daryl's voice can wear thin on me. Feel they succeed more in an EP format. Keith on the other hand is the metalcore standard

I'll back you on this jr, not crazy about the vocals on this either...or Glassjaw for that matter. Daryl is fucking annoying
I enjoyed moments on this but yeah overall just lacks that bite for me

Kinda weird that the single is clearly the worst song on this imo

Jamming now, first song was pretty catchy. Never heard them before this. Vocals are good but I agree with whoever said they're like a less interesting/dynamic Greg P.
Last song was my favorite. Pretty good EP.

hmm, this is actually rather good for this brand of accessible core. Colour me surprised but the cleans are a strength, dunno what the complaints are all about honestly. They're monumentally better than 99% of cleans I've heard in this realm, so let's not compare everyone to Puciato in that sense
this is a fun 'lil EP

Sick and Lavish still such a killer track.

Very fun EP. The Greg Puciato comp is on point, but the other half of that coin (the buttrock / Sirius XM coin) is the Brandon Saller similarity imo

I can’t understand in the slightest why “butt-rock” keeps appearing in the thread for this wonderful piece of work. Their one and only song that ever came CLOSE to said expression was “Bad Candy” off Bright and that song grew on me massively over the years.

I think it's just the fact that the melodies are catchy and easy to sing along with. Vocals are great, and you're right; nothing here comes close to a Creed or Breaking Benjamin chorus.

Agreed, I was honestly expecting their next release to lean more towards that style, but man was I wrong... let's see the next LP though

What 4/4 and verse-chorus-verse does to a mfer

Just started listening, and there's definitely some butt rock-ness in the chorus of the first song but it's fine by me. It's typically where the vocals get a bit nasal sounding.
