That said I'm sad to say this album still isn't really doing much for me. First single is still sick tho

lmao wow I chose a day to have a job. bumpin rn and I'm feeling the cutting edge of trve and normie-bait, which is a fun line for death metal to ride. Almost getting a less roided Archspire vibe? It does feel goddamn good to hear a bass tone in a death metal album too

Feeling a lot of ritual-era BDM in the guitar too, which is a good thing. Five years ago I would have devoured this

Feeling pretty confident on a 3.5 unless the closer blows me away, super confident record with a lot of great musicianship, its just that its a goddamn death metal album and the genre has understood itself for thirty goddamn years. I kinda wish the vocalist had spent more time in that strange upper-register, just to make this stand out a little more within the history of death metal, because as it is this is mostly a sick amalgamation of all the right parts inter spliced with some super duper cool bits

wow and the closer just sliced through that squiggly atmospheric goodness with a boring-ass descending chord crescendo, jesus that was weak

most of your 5's are scenecore, what are you talking about? also 10 listens when the album has only been out about 24 hours? yeah right lol

39 minutes * 10 = 390 minutes = 6.5 Hours so it’s totally possible >:3

That's not what I'm getting at. You really think someone who made a list like he just did and also is being this combative over the album really wasted their time listening 10 times in one day? I highly doubt that. More than likely a one and done then time for a tantrum tirade

Between this and Sun Eater, the bass is a feast. Not only audible, but soooooo fucking juicy. So many cool bass parts

You’re right, these tantrums will ruin Sputnikmusic’s civil discourse and intellectual dialogue filled with many great thought-provoking comments such as “this slaps” and “album rules ngl”.

These tantrums add spice to the mix!

I also recommend to not think too much about an album’s score on release since the first people to vote tend to be their fans who will in general be more generous with their ratings than outsiders who, either aren’t familiar with the band, or don’t like the genre

Well this is pretty good indeed. I never liked this band but I see they've changed a lot from what I remember hearing from them many years ago. Need to give this more spins but it smells like a 4 at least.

In the same logic: don't think too much about the ratings of the outsiders, they will tend in general to be less generous because they "don't like the genre"

I may not be a big fan of this band either, but this album is incredible.
