Frankly if Idles had just done their first two and the Bataclan live album, they'd be spoken of in awe. They ran their stock empty real fast and the piss really hit their heads.

i always see this narrative of them losing the ground under their feet but i just dont see it, must be another one of those snowball social media narratives that spun completely out of reality.

'this band has no masterpieces'
They're a weird one, have some great records but always more than a few tracks that miss for me the highs some how making up for it on the early stuff at least

The Bataclan live album will be their legacy. The one that may survive the apocalypse. This is mid at best.

@Flugmorph - you keep doing you dude. Sometimes, the Sputnik machine won't give you that communal feedback you're looking for and that's ok. Keep jammin and seein what you're jammin and seein. I like this album for sure

I've never been the biggest IDLES man but my obsession with Fontaines DC and other post punk lately has seen me going back to bands like these blokes and I'm having a lotta fun anyway.

Gotta say, me and my two year old can't stop watching and grooving to the Pop Pop Pop video. Nigel Godrich's influence on that track and others are super welcome. Only complaint would be ya gotta keep bringing the Idles heat on the heavier songs recording wise. Still though, am all for them getting weirder from here out, but crunch when you're gonna crunch

It's painfully obvious how they had one idea for each song and that's it. Dancer is the only song that feels fully fleshed out and it's probably thanks to LCD Soundsystem. Hall & Oates at least has a distinctive verse and chorus, but that's it. It's super frustrating to listen to cause the one idea for each song is mostly good (like the beat for pop pop pop, the beginning of Jungle or the bass in Gift Horse) but the songs then either repeat that one idea throughout the entire song or just go nowhere in general.

This is popping up every now and then when I do stuff in the house. I’m actually enjoying this way more.

Maybe they should've called the album 'Music for Housework'

it's not really hate, it's more of a disappointed indifference

Never really dug this band, but I kind of hoped that they would find a sound that I enjoyed more someday. I guess that's not happening now.

I really like their sound, the songwriting quality just took of nosedive after the first two albums
