Have no idea how I feel about most of the material on the album yet. Mirror sounds like it could fit in with one Mary Elizabeth McGlynns tracks for the the early Silent Hill games.

I'm liking this a lot more on repeat listens. It's starting to click more what they were going for on the album as a whole.

Teetering between 3 and 3.5 for me. I think it's just setting in that a Code Orange album of today will have some literal dogshit on it like the Corgan track and "I Fly" as a byproduct of them writing solid tunes like the hevvy songs they put out as singles and "Mirror", which is extraordinary.
Also, "A Drone Opting Out of The Hive" is SO Code Orange that it flies far beyond parody and becomes an actual piece of quality comedy.

90% of the album should be heavy. Then they can decide to put in some bullshit reba song in there somewhere. That’s why I am King was half decent

Bloody love it , nothing wrong with jumping genre’s

Grooming My Replacement is structured so similarly to Forever that it's driving me a little crazy.

I don't get the hate on Theatre of Cruelty. It's a fantastic track. Deftones, metal core and hardcore wrapped into a tight package. I actually hope this is the style they run with moving forward.

I really miss what this band used to be. Some of these songs are cool (the heavy ones). Some of them are terrible (the godawful buttrock/post-grunge ones). I think my favorite from them is Forever, pls just make more songs like Kill the Creator).

The whole latter half of the album has no fucking flow whatsoever.

End of never far apart is probably the best part on the entire album
Theatre of cruelty is actually a decent track

I wasn't expecting them to fall off this badly

Biggest question is does Greg lie and tell her this shit is cool or is he 100 with it in private conv w/ Reba.

I hope he’s telling her what some of us are saying
“You’re the best part of this mid ass band, jump ship and do something cooler”

I listened to them all today. Forever is better than I remember. I’d put it about on par with I Am King (3/5 or so). Underneath is a disjointed mess. A lot of the songs feel like they’re held together with duct tape and staples. And most of the electronic and industrial segments fall completely flat. Again, plenty of good ideas but man they’re stitched together into something that’s a complete mess. 2/5
With this record, it feels like they really threw everything at a wall to see what would stick. A lot of it does, and when it hits, it really hits. Mirror and Snapshot are two of the best songs they’ve ever written. The entirety of the second half of the record (literally the last 7 songs) is actually pretty great. But that doesn’t excuse how fucking terrible songs like Take Shape and A Drone Opting Out of the Hive are. Theatre of Cruelty’s first 2 minutes and change are great, and build some incredible momentum, but then they just end it with the most flaccid breakdown on the entire record stretched out over like a minute and a half
Like I’ve said before you cut some of the shittier songs, and trim the fat off some of the more disjointed ones, this could’ve been a damn good record.
Make the last 7 songs the entire record, along with Mirror, a trimmed down version of Theatre of Cruelty, and a decent intro track and this record is easily a 4/4.5. I’m actually excited to see what they do next. We also just need more harsh vocals from Reba. She’s got a good singing voice but Jami taking over as lead vocalist is the most confusing thing to me. He’s… fine. But Reba’s vocals are better in pretty much every way.

I really held out hope for this despite the reaction after how much I liked Underneath but yeah, kinda underwhelming. Underneath managed to be equally cerebral and visceral and this is lesser in both regards.

Cut I Fly, Snapshot, Circle Through and this easily a 4. The aggressive songs on here are all fantastic and Take Shape is one of the best songs they've written. The latter still contains Code Orange DNA but still has the alt rock sound they wanted to go with on the record. The 3 mentioned earlier however just go TOO far and lose that edge.
Also can everyone stop with the Reba knob slobbery. I mean she's an integral part of the band but Jesus, she isnt gonna fuck any of you.

"I mean she's an integral part of the band but Jesus, she isnt gonna fuck any of you."
I mean, to be fair her vocals do add a really awesome 90's vibe and her riffs are weird and fucking slap so I get the Reba hype, dude.
" But that doesn’t excuse how fucking terrible songs like Take Shape and A Drone Opting Out of the Hive are. "
Hey, I like those songs, ya dingus
