The production on here is better but don't think they topped violence unimagined. I'll give it few more days tho. Violence was my favorite cannibal record for a long time when it came out not fully getting that feeling with this one. Inhumane harvest, necrogenic resurrection and condemption contagion are still unmatched for me

Yeah I still might like Violence Unimagined a tad more than this, but not a disappointing follow up in the slightest. Especially since it's only been barely 2 years since the last album
Dammit pizza you're not wrong tho lol

Man there is so much to talk about this one...
After the first spin I'm still trying to wrap my mind about the amount of different things that happened here without losing the Cannibal Corpse trademark sound.
First of all, this feels like one of the more varied albums in their career. Every song has its own character yet none of them would make you think you're not listening to cannibal corpse, which is good of course.
Second, the production immediately caught my attention, specially because the guitar tone sounded very familiar but from a very different death metal approach. Midway through the album it finally clicked, Alkaloid! Guitar tone is the same as Alkaloid's. I immediately checked and... bingo! Alan Douches mastered this album, and Alkaloid's last two.
It's weird to see Cannibal Corpse produced like this but it's not bad definitely. That being said I'm not happy with the cymbals in the mix. They sound very distracting and get too much presence here. If this was Mgla I wouldn't mind cymbals being the protagonists but here they should not, this album is not intended for that. I admit sometimes it's so weird it's funny though.
Third, this album riffs hard for real. It's got really memorable segments and it's really funny to listen to, and that's the most important thing right?

Interesting comment, Frost.
I haven't heard the new Alkaloid, but the album doesn't stray much from Erik's trademark in your face max volume sound. It's worked out reasonably well, but I'd like the boys to work with Mark Lewis again next time.
