A Storm in Heaven is such an unknown shoegaze/psych/space rock gem. Whenever early Verve comes up with fellow music fans irl, they’re surprised and had no idea they used to be like that. Beautiful Mind even sounds a bit like Bark Psychosis. 1992-97 Verve is so great.
I’m thinking S/t 2017 is more consistently great, but I feel like both have the same number of highlights. I like both and Just for a Day all around the same. Souvlaki and Pygmalion are the amazing ones.
Blue Rev is excellent and right around as great as this imo

This thing is just a pleasure to let play from start to finish. The album as a whole made the singles sound much better too. Kisses was disappointing before but now it just works.

Verve are amazing. Bittersweet Symphony is one of my most liked songs ever. And I truly don't give a fuck how overplayed it is, the song is powerful.

this is way better than i thought it would be. I barely listen to gaze anymore and had super low expectations, but tracks like shanty & alife got me remembering why I love the genre
